Saginaw, MI - February 16, 2006 marks the 30th year of LB Transportation Group, a full service transportation company located in the heart of Mid-Michigan.
With only a few trucks and a dream, local businessman Tony Lander, started L & B Cartage in 1976 to help move goods and make deliveries for local businesses and manufacturers. Thirty-years later, L & B Cartage (the current day LB Transportation Group) has grown to a large fleet of semi-trucks, delivery vehicles, logistics services and so much more.
Tony Lander, a Midland, MI resident, has continued to promote Mid Michigan through the quiet works of a man who has helped expand Mid Michigan's economic base. Taking a big leap by emigrating from Argentina to Michigan as young man, Tony ventured out onto his own to serve the needs of the growing Mid-Michigan region after working for major shipping companies when he arrived in Michigan in the late 1960s. Realizing that the transportation industry needed personal, one-on-one service, Tony started his family of businesses to move everything from automotive parts to business supplies to household packages.
The past few years has brought on even more exciting expansion as LBTG has built and fully moved into its brand new consolidated headquarters in the Bridgeview Industrial Park on the corner of Bridgeview South and Venoy streets in Zilwaukee.
Over the years, LBTG and its principals have help grow the transportation industry for Saginaw, Bay City, and Midland. In addition to LB’s expanding trucking services, LBTG has operated two local Thrifty Car Rental affiliates as well as starting an airport limousine service at MBS International Airport.
Many have come to rely on LB Transportation Group drivers, as this small army of drivers handles many DHL deliveries in Mid-Michigan (formally known as Airborne Express).
In addition to transportation, LBTG’s sister company, Omni Warehouse, provides sorting, inspecting, kitting, and other specialized warehousing solutions for Michigan’s manufacturers.
Most recently, many have come to know LB Transportation Group through its coordination with local organizations to help bring relief items to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. When LGTB started this operation, their original plan was to help get a single semi-truckload of supplies to our neighbors-in-need. Soon word hit the streets, and Mid-Michigan opened its hearts and hands to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina by sending over six full truck loads of good and supplies to Louisiana and Mississippi following the deadly Category 4 gulf storm.
As its celebrates its 30th year in business, LB Transportation Group continues to be a close knit business, with hundreds of employees throughout the family run LBTG network. |
